International Cat Day is August 8, and National Dog Day is August 26. Show a little extra love to your cat or dog or both by whipping up these animal cookies, a pet recipe from our customer, Neita. Your pets will love this tasty goodie!

Please check with your veterinarian – who knows your pet's health best – before preparing this recipe. The molasses contains sugar, making it a calorie-dense ingredient that could be a cavity and weight-gain risk. Like all treats, they should be given sparingly.

Animal Cookies

"Being an animal lover, I wanted to bake treats for my horse. After creating this recipe for her, I found that cats, goats, the dogs and everyone loved the cookies."

Ingredients

2 cups shredded carrots

2 cups oatmeal

1 cup diced apples, optional

1 cup flour

1/2 - 1 cup molasses

1/2 cup water

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together well and place spoonful drops on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Let cool well before serving to your pets!
